While Apple has a relatively small market share in India compared to other countries, the company has been steadily expanding its presence in the Indian market in recent years. This week the company opened its stores in Mumbai and Delhi.
Apple’s Mumbai store is at Mukesh Ambani-Jio World Drive Mall in Bandra Kurla Complex and in select CITYWALK District Centre in Saket in Delhi. Apple tripled iPhone production in India in the fiscal year ending March 31, producing more than $7 billion of the handsets in the nation, making 7% of all phones in India.
India is the 2nd largest smartphone market and is set to grow even more, therefore, it is only logical for Apple to start its retail stores in one of the biggest markets.
Apple’s overall revenue is declining, According to an International Data Corporation estimate, personal computer shipments fell more than 40% in the first quarter of 2023, leading the overall industry decrease as it confronts sluggish demand. To counter the falling demand, apple has to enter new emerging markets.
